Today starts the Dog Days of Summer, as listed in the Old Farmer's Almanac. It lasts for 40 days from July 3-August 11; these are the days of the year when rainfall is at its lowest (also some of the hottest days of the year too). It's been a while since my last update, since that time I have done few things. I am currently at my Parent's house in the mountains, gracing my presence for Independence Weekend. Today been annoying though, I was suppose to do some lab stuff at the Doctor's office today; they said Friday was okay, but they are on holiday today. The lab stuff relates to stuff they want to follow-up from my physical, just to make sure I'm healthy, physically speaking. Arrive at my Parent's around 5pm, and already they have the list of things I need to do. Fix the computer, help buy a new printer tomorrow, take pictures of flowers for them, and have dinner at Stonewalls (which I hate, it gives me bad gas every time I eat there). Also, I have to wear a suit to the fourth of July festivities, because it's at the country club. Next year, I want to go to a place where I can just show-up without dressing-up. I return to Charlotte on Sunday, already counting the seconds. For the rest of July, I will be going to Otakon and then back to my Parent's house end-of-the-month to see them and my sister's family (who's visiting at that time). Between that will be the usual work and Final Fantasy XI. A staffer from Animazement contacted me today on AIM (forgot the name). They saw my pictures online and wanted to use them on there site since they didn't take any pictures themselves. I said sure. They were excited about my approval and promised to credit me. My one year price lock has ended with Time Warner Cable, my new bill is up $20 now. I will probably just cancel my premium package of Stars/Showtime to save money. AT&T U-Verse isn't offered in my neighborhood yet, though it is offered to some neighborhoods just two miles down the road. However, there is almost no savings with that service either and Dish Network/Direct TV isn't any better. Oh well... So I am officially flying to Otakon this year instead of driving; I was able to get round-trip tickets to Baltimore for $97, which is damn good. The only catch is I'll be staying in Baltimore till my flight leaves on Sunday at 8pm, so I guess I'll take that extra time by visiting some of the tourist stuff that Baltimore has to offer. Should be fun! Going to get an oil change tomorrow, that's pretty much the extent of my weekend plans. Next weekend is Speed Street and Animazement. In two and a half weeks, I'll be off to Japan again. Been skill leveling staff on Final Fantasy XI, so not been doing much lately in the game. Got test results from the blood work done on me and my ANA levels are still high; going to see a Rheumatologiest on Tuesday. The doctor also noted my sugar level was a little low, which makes no sense since I have a sugary diet. Today at work we had our Fire Drill, and since I'm the Emergency Representative for my area, I had to make sure everyone left the floor. Had a couple of guys that were not budging from there cubical till I told them the $500 fine they would personally get... that moved them; there was two other guys just chillin' in the restroom, had to chase them out too. Though nobody brought coffee this time down the stairs, apparently a few had to urge to text-message while going down stairs, slowing down the progress of the evacuation. I hope in a real emergency, I get to toss the people out the window instead. Tags: animazement, e-rep, ffxi, health, otakon, speed street Current Mood: bouncy

Which is a damn lie, I was at home playing FFXI and watching the Mentalist... but maybe you were hoping, so I played you. Anyway, going up to the mountains this weekend for Mother's Day Weekend, not much to say beyond that. This week has been pretty lack luster so far, though I did complete my Nashira set in FFXI, so I'm happy. I'm debating to fly up to Otakon this year instead of driving, it cost more but it shaves off several hours of travel time. Beyond all the rain we have had here in Charlotte, there isn't much else to say. Tags: ffxi, otakon, sex Current Mood: blah

Today's Fortune: Soon, someone will make you very proud. This past weekend I was indeed in Baltimore, Maryland, at another Otakon Convention. Left early Friday morning (3:00am), arriving at the Hotel at 11:00am. Though I seem to got sick along the drive up from something I ate, I survived for a semi-day of fun. Broke in line going into the Dealer's Room... oh well... nobody cared. Surprisingly enough, I actually didn't purchase one thing in the Dealer's room this year; partly at fault because of my trip to Japan just three weeks ago. Anyway, hanged out with people, ate dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen and kind of wondered around till I got tired and went to the hotel. I stayed at the same hotel as last year, the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel, which this year they hooked me up with a much nicer and quieter room than last year. Big props to the Hotel this year. Saturday did much the same stuff, ate lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, took a lot of pictures, had dinner at a Japanese restaurant in Harborplace, went to the 4chan panel (my third attempt to get into the panel, finally successful), and eventually went to bed. Sunday, I ate lunch at H00ters, took pictures, checked out one of the free concerts at the convention, and eventually drove back home to Charlotte... arriving back before 11:00pm. That's pretty much it in a nut-shell. Took over 550 pictures at the convention, though I will not post nearly that many online when I get done. The weather was amazing this year at Otakon, with highs in the low 80's for the most part, low humidity... it was probably as close to perfect as you can get. Had a good time overall. Next Friday I will be driving from Charlotte to Baltimore, with a (detour) stop in Raleigh. The drive, should be around 9-10 hours total; not looking too fond of that, but oh well. I'm already pre-registered for Otakon, so I'm good on that end. I will be staying at the lovely Renaissance Harborplace Hotel again for the entire weekend. The Baltimore Orioles will be in Oakland also, so it shouldn't be as crowded like it was last year at the harbor place when the Yankees were in town. I have added twenty more pictures of my Tokyo Vacation on Photobucket, as adding several other vacations/events there. Here are the links: - 2007 Tokyo Trip
- Speed Street
- 2004 Toronto Trip
- 2004 Seattle Trip
I will add more pictures on photobucket, like last year's Hawaiian vacation; I like the simple method photobucket uses. Also, I doubt it will hit the bandwidth limits since they are normal pictures, nothing really specialized like cosplay. Enjoy the photos guys and hope to see some of you at Otakon! Yep, after a two month gap, I have finally added the remaining pictures from Otakon 2006 online. I had a couple of set-backs that caused the delay, mainly the hard drive that had all the pictures crashed. Luckily, I did burn a DVD copy of the pictures; and after much searching, I finally got it loaded back on the computer and now on Washu.org. So check'em out: http://www.washu.org/cosplay/ota06/index.html (Con Report will be added later). As for yesterday, because of the weather, the plan changed from going to Cullowhee to Hickory. While in Hickory, I went and saw the Borat movie. Personally, I thought it was hilarious. I think most people on my friends list (on LJ) would enjoy this movie too. Overall, had a good time in Hickory. Most amusement was the mall, where it was Teen Central... so much drama and scoping. I can't understand how josephowens can not get laid in Hickory, you know they all doing it (some had babies). Today, well... I mostly worked on the Otakon pictures. But I also worked on reorganizing my computer files, which took several hours to clean-up. But I'm done for now, so it's off to more online gaming with FFXI. Later... Today's Fortune: "Need some adventure and enjoyment? Take a vacation."Today I attempted to wash my comforter on my own... by going to a laundry mat and using one of those big bertha machines. Well, found out the closes place to me was in Pineville, so I went there... and they didn't use quarters, I had to have the proprietor there use her special card and charge me later. I got it was and... uh... semi-dried. I didn't want to stay there too late, so I have tried to dry it some more in my dryer. Well... its still slightly damp, but not too bad, I sleep in it nonetheless. More Otakon pictures posted online, now at 66% completed. You may check them out at: http://www.washu.org/cosplay/ota06/index.htmlIn Final Fantasy XI news: I am now 4/5 complete on my Cleric's Relic Gear, just need that rare Cleric's Briault and my White Mage will be complete. For my Red Mage job, I have gone the different route now by upgrading all Warlock armor. This pass Sunday, I received an improved Warlock's Tabard +1, which is really nice; plus I also learned Phalanx II, so now I'm a Paladin's best friend indeed. I have also finished the quest "Ancient Flames Beakon, Once More", which sucked; and now on "Apocalypse Nigh", which rocks. Watched all the Cutscenes for it and it is freakin' sweet (clip below of me and the gang ready for battle, note the Dark Staff of Justice in hand). Haven't done the actual fight yet since I don't have anybody to help me... solo is not an option. This will probably take me some time to find a group that has this quest, oh well. Today's Fortune: "The education of the will is the object of our existence."Yesterday's Fortune: "Romance comes into your life in a very unusual sort of way."I have been playing Civilization IV lately instead of Final Fantasy XI, partly because I got the Warlords expansion, which makes the game much better. I'll play FFXI on Wednesday for sure (Dynamis and Limbus runs), but don't know for the rest of the week. Worked on the Otakon pictures today, I have renamed the files and reduced the number too 230 pictures (from 400+), that I plan to post online (broken in five pages). I will organize the layout later this week and hope to have the pictures cropped and posted online this weekend. Oh, this weekend I did put some frames on the walls, including my degrees over the mantle. Still need more stuff on the walls, but at least its not as bare now. Two of my co-workers yesterday told me the reason I'm still single is because I put women up on a pedestal when they are really no different nor something to look-up too. Basically along the lines of stop being nice to them. So the next hot chick I say, I will kick'em down and say "RESPECT ME, BITCH"... I'm sure that would make her wet for more! They then said the best way to get into a relationship is to not be looking for one, they will come. My retort to that was something on the lines of "well, I been doing that for several years now, apparently doing a too damn good of a job on that." They didn't say much past that. Today's Fortune: "You will be happily surprised by a long time friend."As you can see, I'm still alive... survived the weekend and the trip to Baltimore. Overall, I give it an OK... would be better if I didn't miss the 4-chan panel and maybe a few more peeps to hang with. Not saying the peeps I was with weren't bad, just that I have other peeps too and I need rotation. Anime Weekend Atlanta will be better, I have a rotation there going. Didn't buy much at the convention, but I have a list now of titles and manga to find online for cheaper. I also made over 400 pictures at Otakon this year, so it will take me some time to widdle that down and crop'em to smaller sizes (each picture is over 3MB). I hope everyone else, that was there, had a good time... here's a picture for memory: As for today, I made a DVD of all the pictures of Otakon I did showed them to co-workers at work. I am convinced now that they think I'm insane or close to it (which is always the plan). Haven't got back into the FFXI habit yet, probably tomorrow... just got stuff to do; doing laundry and going shopping at the new Super Target down the street. Then I think I'll read some Eiken manga... later. Tags: fortune, otakon, photography Current Mood: mellow
